Why Apocrypha will not be Released on Feb 25th from Cody Miles on Vimeo.

Apocrypha, the first solo EP from Cody Miles, will not be released on the previously scheduled date of February 25th. This is primarily due to a computer malfunction that requires parts to be ordered. It is unsure when these parts will be in, but it is clear that the release date has been set back for at least a few weeks.

Cody Miles: Apocrypha, the EP

In the interim between full-length Kenosis albums, member Cody Miles is gearing to release his first EP, Apocrypha.  Apocrypha is a greek word that means “what is hidden.”  Following this concept, this album is an unveiling of what was left unsaid on the latest Kenosis project, Semper Reformanda.  It is a 6 track EP that will be released free to the public on Valentines Day, 2012.  Showcasing both the lyrical performance of Cody Miles and the production skills of Germany’s own Mista Min, Apocrypha is a beautiful and introspective exposition of life and faith in Hip-Hop.  The project will also be mixed and mastered by Skelitone Records producer Skeli Skel.

Kenosis: Semper Reformanda, LP

Following the previous release of Transidentity, Kenosis’ first full-length LP, the crew is finishing their second installment, entitled, Semper Reformanda.  Latin for “Always Reforming,” Semper Reformanda is an energetic, lyrically fierce and powerfully poetic call for the world to examine it’s complacent and damaging behavior toward other people.  With tracks like, “Status Quo,” “Aesthetics,” “Cut You Down” and “If You Only Knew” one can only assume the heavy weight of the content.  An official release date has not been set for the album.  The 3rd major release from Saiza Inc Records, Tim Saiza will engineer the entire project.

IrreleVent: Burn the Sheep, LP

Irrelevent (that’s vent with an e) is a hip-hop group formed in Dallas, TX in August 2011.  After choosing to branch off from Kenosis, Dustin Curlee (aka Vilify) decided to join his brother Derek (aka Manifesto) in creating a project that will speak to listeners looking for a fresh but gritty approach to rap music.  Irrelevent was formed around the belief that music shouldn’t be confined to a specific wall of the record store, and it is their hope that their lyrics will resonate with fans tired of the “status quo” approach to the genre.  Burn the Sheep will be produced entirely by Tim Saiza of Saiza Inc Records.

Although tone deaf throughout childhood,  ”Kara-Nichole” Caldwell found an irresistible attraction to music early in life.  Listening to artists like Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston, Kara asked God to allow her to serve Him through writing music knowing if it was His will, He was more than powerful to heal her voice.  At age 13, she saw God release the music trapped inside her.  Growing and evolving musically since then, Kara can be found serving as the worship leader of Ephesus SDA in San Antonio.  Inspired by artists like Mali Music, Yolanda Adams and Matha Munizzi, Kara-Nichole is an eclectic blend of soul and Gospel.  With an independent spirit, Saiza Inc Records is very proud to introduce you to this fantastic artist.

To learn more about Kara, we got a chance to catch up with her for a little Q&A.

Kara, tell everyone a little about yourself.

I am 21 years old.  I love to laugh, smile, eat ice cream and go cycling for a great workout.

How would you describe your music?

The music God gives me I would have to say is definitely straight from His heart to my heart and then from my heart to His people. To me that is the only way any song that I sing or have written can be effective. Therefore my music can be described as “Heart and Soul Songs.”

You recently joined the Saiza Inc family, what caused that decision?

The cause was definitely because the Saiza Inc family is totally Awesome! But on a real serious note, I had been praying for certain types of hearts to work with and have help me and as I met each person, God confirmed each one.

Do you have any plans of releasing an album soon?

I do plan to release an album soon, maybe in the early part of this coming year of 2012. I will definitely make sure it is announced and pray for everyone’s support.

What are you trying to accomplish as an artist?

I ultimately want others to see Christ. That is the whole goal of my ministry and will always be that way. I am God’s servant so therefore, where He sends, I will go, do, and say as He commands. So with each opportunity to lift Him high in song and through worship, I trust that He will do all the drawing that is necessary.

“To all involved,

It’s been a few months since we’ve released Transidentity.  Looking back, there are a lot things I would have done differently- like, shake myself and scream, “No one knows what ‘exegesis’ means!”  I’m still proud of it though, despite it’s hiccups.  I mean, it was our first major step as artists.  We’ve learned from our previous mistakes.

The purpose of this letter is to let you know what’s happening in our world.  Dustin and I have worked super hard on this new project, Semper Reformanda.  We’ve gone a different direction: focusing primarily on ourselves as we face things like leaving our previous church and helping shape and cultivate a new one , not to mention our observations of misconceptions in the church and our role on this planet.  The point of this album is just what the title says.  Semper Reformanda.  You’ll need to hear the album to discover what that means though.  Or, you could wikipedia it.  I don’t care.

It’s dope though.  In comparison to Transidentity, I would say every track on Semper Reformanda essentially dominates it’s predecessor.  I’m serious.  Anyway, we’re just about to be in the mixing stage of that.  We’re shooting for a release in March.

You may have discovered already that Dustin has started a group with his brother called “Irrelevent”.  No, there is no beef between us.  No, He hasn’t left Kenosis.  Yes, I support him.  100%.  I believe in what he’s doing.  They’re also doing this cool thing that’s totally taboo in music- like telling you every step of their process.  So, go join in on their fail @ www.irreleventmusic.com.

Anyway, I wanted to let you guys know what’s going on.  I don’t get much time to promote my own junk.  It’s not easy doing this grass-roots Saiza Inc Records thing, but I love it and I believe in my crew and I’m where I am because God put me here.  I definitely am thankful for all 10 of ya’ll that continue to support our passion for God and music.  Keep looking out for us.  And, seriously, follow me on twitter @kenosis512 so I never need to write a letter again.

Last July, we released information about Kenosis member Dustin Curlee’s decision to move into a solo hip-hop career (that article can be found here).  Oddly enough, the decision to include brother Derek Curlee was not a new idea. “This is a project Dustin and I have been tossing around for a couple of years,” said Derek aka Manifesto.  ”And like any other “big idea”, at some point you just have to pull the trigger and see what happens.”

Those with OCD can rest assured that “Irrelevent” is spelt incorrectly on purpose.  This is because “what we are saying (much like on Kenosis) is so important but considered so irrelevant. We are going to ‘vent’ about it” said Dustin.

Having finished 2 albums with Kenosis under the label, Dustin’s decision to partner again with Saiza Inc came easily.  ”This guy is pumping out amazing beats for us” said Dustin aka Vilify.  ”All we do is send him sporadic, semi nebulous, and vaguely defined descriptions of what we want. The next thing we know there’s a new email in our Inbox and a text that says “Let me know if your vibing on that.” We are!” (Saiza Inc production can be found here.)

“Derek and I are going to be talking about all the things that most people won’t talk about. Sometimes harsh realities have to be yelled from the rooftop.” said Dustin.  ”This album is also really a plea to stop! Stop tearing people down! Stop looking for the worst! Stop worrying about others! Stop trying to be God! But this album is also a plea to start! Start doing the opposite of all those things and just show some authentic love for people.  Life is short.”  Indeed.

“In the end, if this turns out to be the most annoying, publicly promoted hobby that any of you have ever seen, then we’ve probably missed the mark somewhere” said Manifesto.  ”But we don’t plan on that happening.  Regardless, it is exciting and fulfilling to know that in 6 months, we are going to be able to say “This is ours. We have created this””.
